Coastal Navigation with Arista Holden

This class will include both classroom and on-the-water sessions. Class begins with indoor learning using traditional tools such as paper charts, compasses, dividers and parallel rules. Topics covered will include dead reckoning, triangulation, anchoring, latitude and longitude, safety/danger bearings, tides and currents, and more. One day will be spent on the water aboard our wooden power vessel, putting your new skills to use as you navigate around Muscongus Bay. Whether you’re new to coastal navigation or a seasoned navigator looking to hone your craft, this is the class for you!
