Animal Carving with Eva Sturm-Gross

This workshop is a three hour workshop. Class will start by going over the basics of knife safety and wood grain. Students will be encouraged to make a few practice cuts on a block of scrap wood. Students will draw out the silhouette of their animal/sculpture in a block of basswood and they will learn how to cut it out on the bandsaw. The student will spend the next chunk of time carving their pieces. Students will be instructed in surface design, sanding and finishing options. Students will leave the workshop with a small carved animal and the confidence to carve at home using few and affordable tools.

This course will run for three hours from 2pm to 5 pm.
