An Evening with Rick Miller & Elliot Rappaport Date & Time: Tuesday, February 11 at 6:00 PM Location: The Carpenter’s Boat Shop Join us for a captivating evening of maritime exploration and storytelling featuring two seasoned captains: Rick Miller: Recently retired as Professor and Dean of Faculty at Maine Maritime Academy, Rick spent over 40 years combining his passion for sailing with a career in education. He taught navigation and seamanship courses, served as Master aboard various training vessels (including the schooner Bowdoin on a trip to Greenland’s west coast), and continues to sail annually as Master with the Sea Education Association. Elliot Rappaport: A captain in the U.S. maritime industry since 1992, Elliot focuses on training mariners aboard traditional sailing ships. Currently a faculty member at Maine Maritime Academy, he has also worked extensively with the Sea Education Association. Elliot will be signing copies of his book, Reading the Glass: A Captain’s View of Weather, Water, & Life on Ships, immediately following the lecture.
